Low-risk first project

Test one real material before committing to a batch.

A paid representative material validates visual quality, communication, source files and pipeline fit using the same requirements as the larger production.

Why studios start here

A portfolio proves past work. A test proves this pipeline.

The material uses your art direction, renderer, naming, map packing and review process. You can inspect the final render, exported maps, graph organization and communication before deciding whether to extend the work.

If the larger batch goes ahead, the approved test becomes the first production material. It is not thrown away or repeated.

Input

  • Representative material from the real list
  • Two or more useful references
  • Art direction or comparison target
  • Technical material specification

Delivery

  • Agreed PBR map set
  • SBS/SBSAR source when scoped
  • Preview under neutral lighting
  • Engine-ready naming and packing

Acceptance

  • Reference and scale match
  • No visible tiling defects
  • Correct map behavior
  • Source another artist can inspect

Choose the right test

Representative means normal difficulty.

Do not choose the easiest surface in the library. Pick a material that includes the usual visual complexity, parameter needs and handoff requirements. A successful easy test says little about the work that follows.

The test is most useful for material libraries, game environments, product finish systems, procedural generators and ongoing external production.
